Glossary: Gravel Tonnage
**Gravel Tonnage** is the payload weight of structural aggregates, sand, or gravel, calculated by multiplying volume by material bulk density, expressed in tons or metric tonnes.
Aggregate Weight Sizing
Gravel is ordered and delivered by weight tonnage. Volume in cubic yards is converted to tons using bulk density (approx. 1.35 to 1.4 tons per cubic yard). Metric calculations use metric tonnes (approx. 1.6 tonnes/m³).
