  • Step 1 (Conduit Total Area): 1/2-inch EMT total internal area = 0.304 sq in (NEC Ch. 9 Table 4).
  • Step 2 (Allowable 40% Area): Allowable 40% area = 0.304 × 0.40 = 0.1216 sq in (NEC Ch. 9 Table 1).
  • Step 3 (Single Wire Area): #12 AWG THHN conductor area = 0.0133 sq in (NEC Ch. 9 Table 5).
