**Board Foot** (or board-feet) is the standard volumetric unit of lumber measurement in the US and Canada, representing the volume of a board measuring 12 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 1 inch thick.

Lumber Volumetric Sizing

Board foot is calculated as: BF = (Thickness (in) × Width (in) × Length (ft)) ÷ 12. It represents wood volume before planing and finishes.
